και επορευθησαν εκαστος εις τον οικον αυτου and travelled each (one) into the house of him, 'and each one returned to his own home, Ιησους δε επορευθη εις το ορος των ελαιων but Joshua travelled (up) into the Mount of Olives: 'but Jesus went up to the Mount of Olives. ορθρου δε παλιν παρεγενετο εις το ιερον but at dawn again (He) came into the temple, 'And at dawn He came again into the temple, και πας ο λαος ηρχετο and all the people were coming (there) 'and all the people were coming there, και καθισας εδιδασκεν αυτους and sitting down (He) was teaching them; 'and having sat down He was teaching them; αγουσιν δε οι γραμματεις και οι φαρισαιοι προς αυτον but (they) bring, the scribes and the pharisees, to Him 'And the lawyers and the Separatists brought him γυναικα εν μοιχεια καταληφθεισαν a woman in adultery (having been) captured 'a woman having been caught during an adultery, και στησαντες αυτην εν μεσω and stationing her in (the) midst, 'and standing her in the centre, λεγουσιν αυτω πειραζοντες (they) say to Him testing (Him), 'they said to Him, challenging Him διδασκαλε αυτη η γυνη κατεληφθη "Teacher this the woman was captured "Rabbi: this woman here was caught επ' αυτοφωρω μοιχευομενη upon the same act adulterizing "in the very act, committing adultery! εν δε τω νομω Μωσης ημιν ενετειλατο but in the Torah Moses to us commanded "Now in the Law, Moses commanded us τας τοιαυτας λιθοβολεισθαι. a (woman) as this (is) to be stoned (to death): "that such a woman be stoned to death: συ ουν τι λεγεις? You then, what say (you)? "You then: what do you say?" τουτο δε ελεγον πειραζοντες αυτον But this (they) said testing Him 'but this they said to test Him, ινα εχωσι κατηγορειν αυτου. so as to have (something) to convict of Him (of). 'in order to find fault with Him. ο δε Ιησους κατω κυψας τω δακτυλω But (this) Joshua stooped down (with) the finger 'But Jesus bent down with His finger and... κατεγραφεν εις την γην μη προσποιυμενος. (and He) drew into the ground not regarding (them). 'wrote upon the earth, not regarding them. ως δε επεμενον ερωτωντες αυτον but as they continued pressing Him 'but since they continued to question Him ανεκυψας ειπεν προς αυτους (He) straightened (and) said to them 'He rose up and answered them, ο αναμαρτητος υμων πρωτος επ αυτην The sinless (one) of you (be) first upon her 'Let the one without sin among you be the first upon her τον λιθον βαλετω. the stone to cast to cast a stone!" και παλιν κατω κυψας εγραφεν εις την γην. and again bending down (He) wrote into the ground 'and again He bent down and wrote in the earth. οι δε ακουσαντες εξηρχοντο εις καθ' εις but those hearing exited one upon one 'And those who heard left one by one... αρξαμενοι απο των πρεσβυτερων εως των εσχατων those first from the elders unto the last 'beginning from the elders to the very last. και κατελειφθη μονος ο Ιησους and was left alone Joshua 'and Jesus was left standing aloof, και η γυνη εν μεσω ουσα. and the woman in (the) midst standing 'with the woman standing in the centre. ανακυψας δε ο Ιησους, but (again) rose up Joshua 'So Jesus stood up again, και μηδενα θεασαμενος πλην της γυναικος, ειπεν αυτη, and no one seeing besides the woman, said to her 'and seeing no one but the woman there, He said to her που εισιν εικενοι, οι κατηγοροι σου ? where are those, the accusers (of) you? "Where are they? - your accusers - ουδεις σε κατεκρινεν ? No one you (did) condemn? "Did no one condemn you?" η δε ειπεν, ουδεις κυριε. but she said, No one Master 'and she answered, "No one Lord!" ειπεν δε ο Ιησους, But said Joshua 'Then Jesus said, ουδε εγω σε κρινω. Neither I you do judge: 'Neither do I judge you - πορευου και μηκετι αμαρτανε. Go forth and (do) not again sin. "Go, and sin no more." |
